തക്കാളി, മുളക് എന്നീ വിളകളിലാണ് വെള്ളീച്ചയുടെ ശല്യം പ്രധാനമായും നമുക്ക് ഉണ്ടാകുക. കൃത്യ സമയത്ത് വെള്ളീച്ചയെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാന്‍ നമുക്ക് പറ്റിയില്ലെങ്കില്‍ അടുക്കളത്തോട്ടം മുഴുവന്‍ ഇവ നശിപ്പിക്കും. ചെടികളുടെ ഇലകളുടെ അടിയില്‍ താമസിക്കുന്ന വെള്ളീച്ചകള്‍ എന്ന ഉപദ്രവകാരി നീരുറ്റി കുടിച്ച് ഇലകുരുപ്പിന് കാരണമാകും. ഇലയുടെ അടിഭാഗത്ത് മുട്ടയിട്ട് അതിവേഗം ഇവ വളരുകയും ചെയ്യും.

Use Neem Oil Spray (Organic Insecticide)
- Mix:
- 5 ml neem oil
- 1/2 tsp liquid soap
- 1 liter water
- Spray on both sides of leaves in the early morning or evening
- Repeat every 5–7 days until whiteflies are gone
🧼 2. Soap Water Spray
- Mix 1 tsp mild dish soap in 1 liter water
- Spray thoroughly — especially under the leaves
- Soap breaks the waxy coating on whiteflies and suffocates them
🌬️ 3. Blast with Water
- Use a garden hose to spray underside of leaves
- Knocks off eggs, larvae, and adult whiteflies
🌼 4. Use Yellow Sticky Traps
- Whiteflies are attracted to yellow color
- Hang yellow sticky cards near infected plants
- Catches flying adults and reduces breeding
🧄 5. Garlic or Chilli Spray (Natural Repellent)
- Blend 5 garlic cloves + 1 green chilli + 1 liter water
- Strain and spray on plants
- Acts as a strong deterrent and also repels aphids and thrips
🌱 6. Introduce Natural Predators
- Encourage or introduce ladybugs, lacewings, or encarsia wasps
- These insects feed on whitefly eggs and larvae
🔁 7. Prune Heavily Infested Leaves
- Cut and dispose of heavily infested or yellowing leaves
- Do not compost infected leaves — burn or bury them
🚫 8. Avoid Over-Fertilizing
- Too much nitrogen = soft new growth = whitefly magnet
- Use balanced compost or slow-release organic fertilizers
